English Conversation Group Facilitator
English Conversation Groups aim to help people who have English as an additional language to gain confidence in their spoken English. Facilitators lead on weekly themes for daily conversations and encourage all participants to take part.
This role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and an easy and approachable manner.
Tasks
- Deliver weekly conversation sessions with people who have mixed ability and experience with spoken English
- Ensure sessions are fun, interesting and of value by using a wide range of appropriate discussion topics
- Support individuals to take an active part in group conversations through encouragement and motivation
- Complete and submit basic weekly attendance records to help monitor and develop the service
- Help participants become active members of the library

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Readiness to be flexible and responsive to a wide diversity of needs
- Commitment and punctuality
- Good level of spoken English required
- Non-judgemental, open-minded and friendly with the ability to encourage people from all communities
