Bookends Bookshop Manager - (Eastbourne Library only)



The Bookshop Manager is responsible for the look, feel and day to day running of the bookshop.

Tasks include

  • Managing the day to day running of the shop
  • Managing shop volunteers (including timetabling)
  • Maintaining effective stock management: including displays, pricing, monitoring popularity of stock
  • Induction and ongoing training of bookshop volunteers
  • Lead contact for Bookshop volunteer team and first point of contact for Library staff
  • Manual Handling
  • Cash handling and management
  • Maintaining good communication between volunteers, staff and management

 Skills and experience

  • Management of bookshop area
  • Managing and supervising volunteers
  • Ability to lead a team and to be able to delegate tasks and responsibilities to a team effectively
  • Retail/Library experience preferable
  • Reliable with a flexible approach
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Customer focus  
  • Cash handling, cash management

Other information

You should be able to volunteer for a minimum of 8 hours per week

Minimum age for the role is 18 years
