Residents and their visitors

Residents within the controlled parking area (CPA) can buy up to two virtual permits that allow parking in the zone they live in. Permits are linked to the vehicle registration number and will appear on the handheld computers used by civil enforcement officers.

A resident permit will only be issued if you are:

  • a permanent resident at an address within the CPA
  • the registered keeper of the vehicle.

You will need to provide proof of this with your permit application. For a list of the documents we will accept please see resident permit proof of eligibility.

Residents can buy day permits for the zone they live in, for their visitors to use, even if they do not hold a resident parking permit themselves.

Apply for a permit

Businesses within the controlled parking area (CPA) can buy up to six permits that allow parking either in a single zone, or throughout the CPA. A permit can be issued for up to three vehicles. Permits show the vehicle registration numbers and cannot be transferred.

A permit will only be issued if:

  • the business address is within the CPA
  • the vehicle is essential for the running of the organisation.

Permits will not be issued to vehicles which exceed 3.2 metres overall height, 6.5 metres overall length and 5 tonnes gross weight.
