How will your information be used?

Parking permits

Your information will be used to check and confirm eligibility, make payments and the ongoing management for the life of the permit. This will ensure fair and consistent approach to the issuing of permits and reduce the potential risk abuse.

Card payment details will be used to process payments and refunds.

Your vehicle registration number and permit details will be used by Civil Enforcement Officers and members of the parking team when checking and enforcing parking restrictions.

Pay and display

Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) management and debt recovery

Your information will be used to manage the legislative progression and appeal process of PCNs, as set out in the Traffic Management Act 2004 (TMA2004) and the Transport Act 2000 for bus lane PCNs. Where PCNs are not paid or challenged your information will be used by our notice processing team and contracted enforcement agencies to recover all debts and charges associated to PCNs.

Consultations

We will collect your name and address to identify any duplicate responses to the consultation. This will ensure a fair and democratic consultation that most accurately reflects the opinions of residents, businesses and other stakeholders. This information will not be used in any reporting, it will only inform accurate data collection.

Information on whether you consider yourself to have a disability is collected and reported on to identify the potential need for disabled parking facilities within the area.

Access protection markings and disabled bays

Your information will be used to help us assess your application, to contact you to discuss your application, organise payment where applicable and to make the necessary arrangements for completion of the work. We may also contact you about the markings after completion. For example, if we receive a request to remove a disabled bay from another member of the public or need to check the validity of the bay, we will need to contact you to check you still need it.

Requests for new parking controls

Information will be used to keep customers up to date with the progress of their request, to contact them to ask for more information where necessary, to know the exact location of the request, and to assess the level of local support.

In all circumstances we aim to maintain high standards, adopt best practice for our record keeping and regularly check and report on how we are doing. Your information is never sold for direct marketing purposes.

Our staff are trained to handle your information correctly and protect your confidentiality and privacy.

Your information is processed in the UK or in a country with an adequacy agreement with the UK.
