1. Birth registration

Due to Coronavirus restrictions, birth registration was suspended between 23 March and 14 June 2020.

During this time, we have worked hard to develop a process for registering births which meets social distancing guidelines, while still complying with the legal requirements;

  • You can no longer book a birth registration appointment. Instead, we will contact families with new born children.
  • We will contact families in chronological order according to the child’s date of birth. Please be patient while we deal with the backlog of births first.
  • Your registration interview will be by telephone.
  • The registrar will arrange a time for you to visit the register office to check and sign the register page.
  • Your appointment to sign the register will take place either in the car park or at the doors to the register office (dependent on site facilities).
  • You will need to bring a blue or black biro/ball point pen to sign with.
  • In line with Government guidelines, face coverings must be worn by all visitors to our Register Offices. You may be asked to temporarily remove your face covering for identification purposes.
  • Birth certificates can be ordered online after the page is signed.
