New single fare reductions for 2025

The East Sussex Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) has used its Department for Transport (DfT) funding to work with operators on major fare reductions. Alongside the national £3 fare cap, we are introducing lower single fares through the county from 1 January 2025.

This means you will pay less than £3 for a number of journeys, and some journeys will be cheaper than they were in 2024.

Pre-cap fares between £2-£3 will be capped at £2, and those that were between £1-£2 will be reduced to £1. Children's fares start from just 50p.

For details of your journey's fare, check the information on the bus operators' website, app (Brighton & Hove Buses, Stagecoach and Metrobus) or speak to your driver.

Under 19's fare reductions

Our BSIP children's offers still apply:

  • UNACCOMPANIED - £1 single fare for under 19s during off-peak hours; after 6pm on school days and anytime on weekends, bank holidays and school holidays.
  • ACCOMPANIED - Up to four under 19s travel for 50p each with one adult fare paying or concessionary pass passenger. Adult fare payers must accompany children for the whole of the journey.
  • Freedom Weekly Ticket: continues to be £15 for the Freedom Weekly ticket for under 19s (that's £3 per day if you travel five days a week and £2.14 per day if you travel every day).
    • Gives the bus pass holder unlimited travel (on as many bus services as you like with as many operators as you like) on every bus in East Sussex for seven days in a row at all times and days of the year. Freedom Ticket price is valid until the end of July 2025.

Multi-operator day tickets
