Notice of Essential Building Works at the Coroner’s Court

Please be advised that essential building works are taking place at the Coroner’s Court from 29 October for a period of around 10 weeks. The works involve the replacement of the roof of this historic building, helping to preserve its character, protect its structure and ensure that it remains fit for purpose for many years to come.

Visitors attending the Court will notice the presence of scaffolding, protective coverings, contractors’ vehicles and designated work areas around parts of the building. While every effort has been made to maintain the appearance and accessibility of the site, these temporary measures are necessary to allow the works to be carried out safely and efficiently.

During this period, visitors may experience some temporary disruption, including increased noise levels, changes to access routes and reduced availability of parking. Particular care is being taken to minimise disturbance, recognising that the Coroner’s Court is a sensitive environment where bereaved families, witnesses, legal representatives and other visitors attend often difficult and emotional proceedings.

The improvement works have been carefully planned to ensure that court business continues as normal wherever possible, while enhancing the long-term safety, weather protection and condition of the building. Contractors have been instructed to work considerately and to keep disruption to a minimum throughout the project.

Visitors are asked to follow any temporary signage or instructions provided on site and to allow additional time for arrival where necessary.
