For safety reasons we sometimes have to close paths during repairs, improvements or construction work. Longer term closures (21 days or more) can be viewed on our online map. All our current closures are listed below.

Short-Term temporary Closures
The following is a list of Public Rights of Way that have been temporarily closed on a short term basis, either for a period of 5 days (followed by a possible second 5-day period immediately after) or a period of 21 days (followed by a possible second 21-day period immediately after).

Long-Term temporary Closures
The following is a list of Public Rights of Way that have been temporarily closed for a longer period of time using a temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TRO), initially lasting for 6 months which can be extended by agreement with The Department for Transport (DfT).

- Buxted Footpath 24 [633.7 KB] [pdf]. Closed due to a bank slippage.
- Camber Footpaths 3a, 8, 19a, 19b and also East Guldeford Footpaths 13a, 13b, Playden Footpaths 20b, 20c, and Rye Footpaths 6 and 7. [2.6 MB] [pdf] Closed for river embankment raising works.
- Camber Footpaths 3b, 3c, 9a, 9b, 10 [1.4 MB] [pdf] Closed for river embankment raising works.
- Chailey Footpath 2c (part). [1.3 MB] [pdf] Closed during engineering works associated with the installation of farmland irrigation systems. See also East Chiltington 14a.
- Chailey Byway 8c,8d,8e,8f,8g,8h,8i (part). [271.6 KB] [pdf] Closed due to a dangerous bridge. Open to all users except vehicles and horse drawn carriages until repairs begin.

Permanent restrictions
Beddingham Byway 4b is permanently closed to vehicles, under an Order made in 1974.
We also have seasonal restrictions in place for a number of byways, restricting vehicle use during the winter months.
