Circular walks – by length

Below are a range of circular walks which are available to download as a (Portable Document Format) PDF and viewed on our Walks in East Sussex Map

All routes are shown on our online map, including any temporary closures.

A selection are also available via the AllTrails website, which includes an App version.

1 – 3 miles

  • Ripe – 2.5 miles [356.7 KB] [pdf]
    - An easy walk along country lanes and across fields with a few stiles.
  • Danehill Walk – 3 miles [856.2 KB] [pdf]
    - A country walk through heathland and wooded valleys on the edge of Ashdown Forest.
  • Playden Walk – 3 miles [644.6 KB] [pdf]
    - A generally easy walk, with few stiles, but some hilly sections and a flight of steps.

3.5 to 4.5 miles

  • Harley Shute Walk – 3.5 miles [739.0 KB] [pdf]
    - A generally easy beach and riverbank walk with no stiles, some hilly sections, and a pedestrian bridge over the railway line.
  • Woods Corner Walk – 3.5 miles [761.0 KB] [pdf]
    - Country walk through woodland, passing follies built by John ‘Mad Jack’ Fuller, Squire of Brightling, 1757–1834.
  • Buxted Walk – 4 miles [500.1 KB] [pdf]
    - A walk through historic Buxted Park, with a circuit of the Woodland Trust site at Views Wood.
  • Cock Marling Walk – 4 miles [653.3 KB] [pdf]
    - A country walk starting from Winchelsea station, climbing to a ridge overlooking the Brede valley.
  • Peasmarsh Walk – 4 miles [395.0 KB] [pdf]
    - An easy, mostly level walk along country lanes and across fields, with some stiles.
  • Battle Walk – 4.5 miles [557.3 KB] [pdf]
    - A generally easy walk through woodland with no stiles and some hilly sections. Can be very muddy.   Please note: Due to a building development, the path is closed between (2) and (3), so continue walking from (2) along the roadside footway to (4).
  • Cowbeech Walk – 4.5 miles [723.0 KB] [pdf]
    - A generally easy walk along country lanes, woodland and across fields with a few stiles.

5 – 7 miles

  • Bishopstone Walk – 5 miles [778.2 KB] [pdf]
    - A generally easy walk with some stiles and long gentle hill, passing through the Ouse Estuary Nature Reserve and Tide Mills.
  • Robertsbridge – 5 miles [518.9 KB] [pdf]
    - Typical country walk with some hills, stiles and muddy paths (depending on weather).
  • Barcombe Walk – 5.5 miles [675.3 KB] [pdf]
    - A generally easy walk across fields and along quiet country lanes visiting ‘the three villages of Barcombe’.
  • Eridge Walk – 5.5 miles [857.4 KB] [pdf]
    - A country walk with some hilly sections starting at Eridge station, passing near Harrison’s Rocks and the Spa Valley railway.
  • Doleham Walk – 6 miles [808.9 KB] [pdf]
    - A country walk to the village of Brede, starting from Doleham station, and returning along the river Brede.
  • Hadlow Down Walk – 6.5 miles [526.3 KB] [pdf]
    - Typical country walk along lanes and some fields, with some hills and stiles. Paths can be muddy (depending on weather).
  • Winchelsea Walk – 6.5 miles [834.1 KB] [pdf]
    - A walk from historic Winchelsea through a nature reserve, and along the banks of the Royal Military Canal.

7 – 9 miles

  • Ticehurst Walk – 7 miles [727.9 KB] [pdf]
    - A generally easy country walk along country lanes and woodland with views of Bewl Water.
  • Mark Cross Walk – 8 miles [492.4 KB] [pdf]
    - More difficult walking across woodland and fields with numerous hills, stiles and some muddy paths.
  • Crowborough Walk – 9 miles [671.5 KB] [pdf]
    - Typical country walk through fields and woodland with hills, some stiles and muddy paths (depending on weather).
