Your options
We recommend you accept the place allocated to your child. Refusing your allocated school will not affect your chances of being offered a different school and may mean your child is left without a school place.
If you have been refused a place at a school named on your application, you have the option of joining their waiting list and/or appealing the decision.
If your child is due to start Reception or Year 7 in September and you are successful with a waiting list or appeal your current allocation will be withdrawn and offered to another child. If you change your mind at any point please let us know as soon as possible as we may not be able to reinstate school places given up.
Change of allocation request
If your child is starting primary or moving to junior or secondary school in September you can make a change of allocation request as long as the school was not oversubscribed. If you are offered a place your current allocation will be withdrawn and we may not be able to reinstate this if you change your mind.
It is not possible to state a new preference for a school not listed on your application until 1 September 2026.
The schools available for change of allocation requests are:
Ark Alexandra Academy
Bexhill Academy
Hailsham Academy
Robertsbridge Community College
Rye College
Seahaven Academy
The Eastbourne Academy
The Hastings Academy
The St Leonards Academy
The Turing School
Please put your request in an email to allocationchange@eastsussex.gov.uk and include:
· your child’s name and date of birth
· the school you wish to be considered.
· the reasons for the change (ie sibling)
The decisions on these requests do not carry a right of appeal nor can you join a waiting list.
