Parent and child fostering

Could you provide support and guidance in a family-based placement in your home for a parent (sometimes parents) and child together?

Parent and child (P&C) foster carers provide a supportive and safe home environment for those facing challenges with their parenting skills and are at risk of having their children removed from their care.

  • Play a vital, nurturing role, building relationships with parents whilst guiding them to build confidence and learn essential skills to ensure their child's safety and wellbeing.
  • Support the parent to care for their child independently.
  • Work collaboratively with professionals advocating for both the parent and the child's needs.
P&C 4 July23

P&C foster carers are key within the whole Children's Services team supporting parents to realise their parenting responsibilities whilst assessing a their ability to care for their child.

It's a busy full-time role for the length of the placement, involving appointments, and activities, whilst monitoring and reporting progress observations or concerns. You will attend frequent meetings with your own supervising social worker supporting your wellbeing too.

I’m here for the parent 24/7. It is different to other types of foster care but we all work as a team to get the best for the child.

The weekly allowance you will receive for a parent and child placement:

  • £1,264 (based on one child and one parent together)

This role is particularly suited to those who have previous experience in fostering, nursing, childcare professionals, and other related roles.  Please get in touch if you think that your life experiences could be shared to help give parents and their young children the best chances as they start their own parenting journey.
