Help to use or move around your home
If you have a disability or a health condition, you may find it difficult to use or get around your home.
Adaptations are changes to your home that make it safer for you. Simple home adaptations include grab rails and stair rails.
We may also offer equipment to help with daily tasks.
How to apply
You can start your assessment online:
If you cannot apply online, you can contact us.
Your assessment will look at how you manage everyday tasks and move around your home.
Types of support
Equipment
Equipment includes things like:
- chair and bed raisers
- shower chairs
- commodes and raised toilet seats
Simple changes to your home
Home adaptations that cost under £1,000 are free of charge.
Larger adaptations
If your assessment shows that you need a bigger change to your home, we can arrange this with your local district or borough council.
You may be eligible for a Disabled Facilities Grant to pay for large adaptations like walk-in showers and stair lifts. This funding is means-tested and can pay for some or all of the cost.
You can find out more about the grant from your district or borough council:
- Eastbourne and Lewes Councils
- Hastings Borough Council
- Rother District Council
- Wealden District Council
If you rent your home from a housing association or council, you will still need an assessment before you can be referred.
