How much care costs

The cost of a care home depends on the level of care you need and how much the particular home charges.

If you have more than £23, 250 in savings and assets, you will need to pay the full cost of your care.

Residential and nursing care

If you have less than £23,250 in savings and assets, the amount you pay is based on your financial assessment.

If you are fully paying for your care, you will pay the full rate the care home charges. 

Home care

Home care costs vary depending on where you live.

You can expect to pay around £30 per hour if you are paying for your own care.

If you have less than £23,250 in savings and assets, the amount you pay is based on your financial assessment.

Lifeline alarms, monitors and sensors

There is a small weekly charge for technology enabled care. It costs up to £3.85 for monitoring. You may also be eligible for help with the cost.
