Temporary closures

For safety reasons we sometimes have to close rights of way while we make repairs or improvements, or during construction work nearby. Longer term closures (21 days or more) can be viewed on our online map and all current closures are listed below.

Current closures

  1. Bexhill Footpath 33 (part) - closure extended: still closed during the construction of a new public house/restaurant and Marston’s Lodge for Marston’s Inn and Taverns.
  2. Burwash Bridleway 52d - closed to protect public safety while a bridge is repaired/replaced. See also Warbleton 80b.
  3. Buxted Footpath 24 – closure extended: still closed due to a bank slippage.
  4. Chailey Byway 8c,8d,8e,8f,8g,8h,8i(part) – closure extended: still closed due to a dangerous bridge – open to all users except vehicles and horse drawn carriages until repair work begins
  5. Ditchling Footpath 37 (part) - closure extended: still closed to protect public safety during the construction of silage clamps and a farmyard manure store.
  6. Hailsham Footpath 34a, 34b - closure extended: still closed to protect public safety while a bridge awaits repair. See also Herstmonceux footpath 67.
  7. Hastings Footpath 58a – closure extended: still closed due to subsidence.
  8. Hastings Footpath 63 – closed to protect public safety until bridge repairs are undertaken.
  9. Hastings Footpath 97 – closure extended: still closed due to construction works.
  10. Hastings Footpaths 379a, 364a and 417 (Ecclesbourne Glen) – closure extended: still closed due to landslips.
  11. Hastings Footpaths 364a, 364b, and 417: closed to protect public safety due to landslips.
  12. Herstmonceux Bridleway 45c (part) - closed to protect public safety while a bridge/culvert awaits major repair.
  13. Herstmonceux Footpath 67, - closure extended: still closed to protect public safety whilst a bridge awaits repair. See also Hailsham 34a and 34b.
  14. Lewes Town Centre 53a and 53b - closed to protect public safety due to a collapsed wall
  15. Little Horsted Footpath 3 – closure extended: still closed during housing development. Alternative route available.
  16. Maresfield Footpath 80 - closed to protect public safety while a bridge is replaced.
  17. Mayfield and Five Ashes Bridleway 92 - closed to protect public safety during the construction of a new water main between Coggins Mill water treatment works and Coggins Hill service reservoir.
  18. Newhaven Footpaths 3c and 3e - closure extended: still closed to protect public safety during work to construct a new road (Newhaven Port Access Road).
  19. Newhaven Footpath 6 - closure extended: still closed to protect public safety during work to construct a new road (Newhaven Port Access Road).
  20. Newhaven Restricted Byway 11d (part) - closed to protect public safety during the construction of new residential dwellings
  21. Polegate Footpath 15 (part) - closure extended: still closed to protect public safety during the construction of a new residential development.
  22. Ringmer Footpath 22 (part) – closure extended: still closed to protect public safety during the construction of a new housing development.
  23. Rotherfield Footpath 47b - closed to protect public safety as a major bridge on the route is heavily damaged.
  24. Warbleton Bridleway 80b - closed to protect public safety while a bridge is repaired/replaced. See also Burwash 52d.
  25. Westfield Byways 50c and 50d (part) - closed to protect the surface of the Byways from the likelihood of serious damage.
