Temporary closures

For safety reasons we sometimes have to close rights of way while we make repairs or improvements, or during construction work nearby. Longer term closures (21 days or more) can be viewed on our online map and all current closures are listed below.

Current closures

  1. Arlington Footpath 59a - closed to protect public safety whilst footpath repairs are undertaken.
  2. Bexhill Footpath 33 (part) - closure extended: still closed during the construction of a new public house/restaurant and Marston’s Lodge for Marston’s Inn and Taverns.
  3. Buxted Footpath 24 – closure extended: still closed due to a bank slippage.
  4. Chailey Byway 8 – closure extended: still closed due to a dangerous bridge – open to all users except vehicles and horse drawn carriages until repair work begins
  5. Ditchling Footpath 37 (part) - closure extended: still closed to protect public safety during the construction of silage clamps and a farmyard manure store.
  6. Hailsham Footpath 34a, 34b - closure extended: still closed to protect public safety while a bridge awaits repair. See also Herstmonceux footpath 67.
  7. Hastings Footpath 58a – closure extended: still closed due to subsidence.
  8. Hastings Footpath 63 – closed to protect public safety until bridge repairs are undertaken. NOTE: still closed as from 4 October 2019 – more details to follow shortly.
  9. Hastings Footpath 97 – closure extended: still closed due to construction works.
  10. Hastings Footpaths 379a, 364a and 417 (Ecclesbourne Glen) – closure extended: still closed due to landslips.
  11. Herstmonceux Footpath 67, - closure extended: still closed to protect public safety whilst a bridge awaits repair. See also Hailsham 34a and 34b.
  12. Little Horsted Footpath 3 – closure extended: still closed during housing development. Alternative route available.
  13. Mayfield and Five Ashes 92 - closed to protect public safety during the construction of a new water main between Coggins Mill water treatment works and Coggins Hill service reservoir.
  14. Newhaven Footpaths 3c and 3e - closure extended: still closed to protect public safety during work to construct a new road (Newhaven Port Access Road).
  15. Newhaven Footpath 6 - closure extended: still closed to protect public safety during work to construct a new road (Newhaven Port Access Road).
  16. Newhaven Restricted Byway 11d (part) - closed to protect public safety during the construction of new residential dwellings
  17. Polegate Footpath 15 (part) - closure extended: still closed to protect public safety during the construction of a new residential development.
  18. Ringmer Footpath 22 (part) – closure extended: still closed to protect public safety during the construction of a new housing development.
  19. Seaford Footpath 30a - closed to protect public safety during railway track renewal works by Network Rail.
  20. Ticehurst Footpath 21 (part) - closed to protect public safety during the construction of a carriageway and associated footpath.
  21. Wadhurst Footpath 11b - closed to protect public safety while urgent work is carried out to the railway crossing.
  22. Westmeston Bridleway 11b and 11c - closed to protect public safety whilst bridge repair and re-surfacing work is carried out on the Meadowsweet/Tar Hut railway bridge.
