Children’s homes in East Sussex

There are currently six residential children’s homes and one secure children’s home in East Sussex. We have four residential homes for looked after children. There are a further two children’s homes which offer respite and long term care for children with disabilities.

Residential children’s homes

We have four residential children’s homes along the Sussex coast. They provide a warm and homely environment with all the conditions for children to thrive. Each home is a standard domestic dwelling, set within pleasant residential areas. They are located in:

  • Eastbourne
  • Seaford
  • St Leonards-on-Sea

Each home can accommodate children of either gender. Three of the homes are set up for up to four children. One home is set up for five children, ranging from aged 8 up to 18.

Our other two homes, Acorns in Bexhill and The Bungalow in Eastbourne, are small respite and residential homes. They support children and young people with learning disabilities, aged 7 to 19 years old.

Lansdowne secure children’s home

We run a secure children’s home in Hailsham which currently accommodates up to seven children, aged 10 to 17.

The home includes a school and we work closely with health services.

Courts can decide to place a child in a secure facility for a limited time for a variety of reasons. While we consider referrals from local authorities across the country, we will only provide a home to children whose court order has been granted on welfare grounds, not for criminal justice reasons.
