Children’s homes in East Sussex

There are six residential children’s homes and one secure children’s home in East Sussex. We have four residential homes for looked-after children. There are also two children’s homes that offer respite and long-term care for children with disabilities.

Residential children’s homes

We have four residential children’s homes along the Sussex coast. They provide a warm and homely environment with all the conditions for children to thrive. Each home is a standard domestic dwelling, set within pleasant residential areas. They are located in:

  • Eastbourne
  • Seaford
  • St Leonards-on-Sea

Children of any gender can live in these homes. Three of the homes have space for up to four children each. One home can have up to five children. Children who live here are between 8 and 18 years old.

Our other two homes, Acorns in Bexhill and The Bungalow in Eastbourne, are small respite and residential homes. They support children and young people with learning disabilities, aged 7 to 19 years old.

Lansdowne secure children’s home

We run a secure children’s home in Hailsham. This home has space for up to seven children, aged 10 to 17. Lansdowne has its own school, and we work with health services to help the children.

Courts can decide to place a child in a secure facility for a limited time for a variety of reasons. While we consider referrals from local authorities across the country, we will only provide a home to children whose court order has been granted on welfare grounds, not for criminal justice reasons.
