Health Impact Assessment Toolkit
The Toolkit has been produced to support the implementation of Health Impact Assessment (HIA) requirements for planning applications with East Sussex.
The Toolkit includes:
- HIA Manual for Planning Applications: ‘How to Guide’. This provides the context, aims, purpose, roles, and timings for each stage in the process. A step-by-step guide on when and how to complete the templates.
Templates:
(These downloadable templates are fillable word documents)
- East Sussex Integrated HIA Screening and Scoping Template: Parts A, B, C, D - This supports both the screening and scoping stages.
- East Sussex HIA Template Parts E, F, G – Once completed this is the HIA which should be submitted with a planning application.
- East Sussex QA Checklist - This will be used by either Public Health or LPA Planning Officers to ensure the HIA is of an adequate quality.

These provide an initial guide to the range of points that should be considered and provided.
