Health Impact Assessment Toolkit
The Toolkit has been produced to support the implementation of Health Impact Assessment (HIA) requirements for planning applications with East Sussex.
The Toolkit includes:
HIA Manual for Planning Applications: ‘How to Guide’. This provides the context, aims, purpose, roles, and timings for each stage in the process. A step-by-step guide on when and how to complete the templates.
Templates:

- HIA Integrated Screening, Scoping Template, Parts A, B, C, D: This supports both the screening and scoping stages.
- East Sussex HIA Template, Parts E, F, G: Once completed this is the HIA which should be submitted with a planning application.
- East Sussex QA Checklist: This will be used by either Public Health or LPA Planning Officers to ensure the HIA is of an adequate quality.
Filled Out Example Templates:
These provide an initial guide to the range of points that should be considered and provided.
