Community Focused Road Safety Schemes

In February 2022, Councillor Claire Dowling approved the re-allocation of £750,000 from the current Community Match underspend. This funding will be spent to deliver community focused road safety interventions.  A copy of the report can be found at Agenda for Lead Member for Transport and Environment on Monday, 21st February, 2022, 10.00 am

All road safety concerns are assessed against the relevant criteria. A two-stage appraisal process has been approved for community focused interventions.

The Road Safety Team have assessed a high number of concerns from across the county. These concerns and potential interventions have been prioritised using the agreed criteria. As a result, we have identified a priority list of ten schemes across the county.

We are working with our contractors to deliver the above improvements this financial year (by the end of April 2023).

We will carry out monitoring at these locations, to understand what works well. This will better inform our work going forward.

The Road Safety Team will assess requests for next years' programme as they receive them. During April, we will identify schemes for the 2023/24 financial year.
