Bus service funding

Most bus services in East Sussex are run commercially by bus operators. See Bus operating companies.

We receive Government funding to support bus services so we can:

  • help fund services which aren’t profitable but are valuable to communities
  • work to lower and simplify fares
  • work with operators to improve commercial services
  • provide better information and increase the use of public transport in the county.

Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP)

In 2021, all local transport authorities had to develop and submit a Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) to the Government, to set out plans to improve bus services in their areas. In 2022, we were granted funding to implement ours.

See: Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP).
