Bus service funding
Most bus services in East Sussex are run commercially by bus operators. See Bus operating companies.
We receive Government funding to support bus services so we can:
- help fund services which aren’t profitable but are valuable to communities
- work to lower and simplify fares
- work with operators to improve commercial services
- provide better information and increase the use of public transport in the county.
Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP)
In 2021, all local transport authorities had to develop and submit a Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) to the Government, to set out plans to improve bus services in their areas. In 2022, we were granted funding to implement ours.
Other funding for buses
Bus Service Operators Grant (BSOG)
