School Streets Trial 2021
What did the School Streets Trial involve?
The street immediately outside the school was temporarily closed to motor vehicles. It opened the street to families on foot, bike or scooter at drop off and pick up times, giving everyone more space to get to school and move around their local environment safely.
These temporary restrictions did not apply to residents, business premises on the street, emergency services, school transport, blue badge holders, deliveries, and carers of residents on the street.
When was the trial operated?
The 6-week trial operated between 15 March to 1 April and 19 April to 7 May 2021.

- Ark Blacklands Primary Academy, Hastings
- All Saints CofE Junior Academy, Hastings
- All Saints CofE Primary School, Bexhill
- Southover CofE Primary, Lewes
- Harbour Primary and Nursery School, Newhaven
- Langney Primary Academy, Eastbourne
What times did the trial operate?
The access was restricted outside of the above schools for approximately one hour between the hours 8.00am to 10.00am and 2.00pm and 4.00pm.
