Overview
This Privacy notice covers the processing of personal data carried out as part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) Ready To Grow and Big Ambitions Business Support Programmes. It is a partnership between East Sussex County Council, Eastbourne District Council, Lewes District Council, Rother District Council and Wealden District Council. The UKSPF is the UK Governments replacement for European Structural Investment Fund (ESIF) that included both the European Social Fund (ESF) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), and is managed by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC). Please note that this privacy notice only covers personal data that is processed by the service.
East Sussex County Council takes data protection seriously. Please be assured that your information will be used appropriately in line with data protection legislation, will be stored securely and will not be processed unless the requirements for fair and lawful processing can be met.
What information is being used?
Ready To Grow and Big Ambitions process a range of personal data about participants in order to provide specialist business support to them. This normally includes name, phone number, business address and contact email address for the business contact. Business details are required to receive the service, and a narrative of support will be recorded.
As part of monitoring the reach of our services we will ask for special category data- ethnicity and gender data for equality and diversity monitoring. This information is optional and is not a requirement of receiving the service.
How will your information be used?
We hold your information so that we can provide the service, and keep in contact with participants.
The personal data of the UKSPF Ready To Grow and Big Ambitions Business Programmes will be collected and processed by Digital Islands and used to enable the delivery of the service for operational reasons (such as to contact and liaise with you, to provide ongoing support, and collect feedback on the service via email). It is also required to provide evidence of service delivery to the partnership and funders: Eastbourne District Council, Lewes District Council, Rother District Council, Wealden District Council, and will be anonymised for the Government Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
The use of the business' information may include matching to other data sources to understand more about organisations like yours and general patterns and trends. Although the business' data will not be published in a way which identifies any individual or business.
Personal and special category data will be used by Digital Islands and ESCC to understand the reach of our services and promote equality and diversity.
We aim to maintain high standards, adopt best practice for our record keeping and regularly check and report on how we are doing. Your information is never sold for direct marketing purposes.
Our staff are trained to handle your information correctly and protect your confidentiality and privacy.
Your information is processed in the UK or in a country with an adequacy agreement with the UK.
What is the legal basis for processing your information?
The legal basis for processing is Article 6 (1) ( e) Public Task.
The legal basis for gathering special category date is Article 9 (1)(a) Explicit consent.
Consent will also be requested and maintained separately for email marketing under Article 6(1)(a).
If recipients no longer wish to receive our service we are still required to report all existing data to our funders and do so as a task carried out in the exercise of our official authority. Once reporting has been completed data will be deleted and no longer used.
How long will your information be kept for?
Personal data will normally be held for 10 years, as per the programme's retention schedule. For more information on how long information is retained please see the East Sussex County Council retention schedule.
Sharing your information
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund Ready To Grow and Big Ambitions Programmes are a funded service and therefore, it is necessary that Digital Islands shares the details you provide with East Sussex County Council. Your data will be shared with the funders - Eastbourne District Council, Lewes District Council, Rother District Council, Wealden District Council, and anonymised for the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities - for research and evaluation purposes.
Any sharing of personal data is always done:
- on a case-by-case basis
- using the minimum personal data necessary
- with the appropriate security controls in place
- in line with legislation.
Information is only shared with those agencies and bodies who have a "need to know" or where you have consented to the sharing of your personal data to such persons.
We may use the information we hold about you to assist in the detection and prevention of crime or fraud. We may also share this information with other bodies that inspect and manage public funds.
Use of third party organisations
East Sussex County Council may share your information with trusted external organisations to process your data on our behalf.
In order to provide this service, personal data needs to be shared with Digital Islands and with ESCC. This data will be collected and processed by Digital Islands on behalf of ESCC. Data will need to be shared with the programme's funders: Eastbourne District Council, Lewes District Council, Rother District Council, Wealden District Council and will be anonymised for the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
Any organisation commissioned by the Council will be under contractual obligation to comply with data protection legislation.

- to ask for your information to be deleted or removed where there is no need for us to continue processing it
