Resident visitor permits

These permits are for residents to give to their visitors. Resident visitor permits are not available in Rye.

How many resident visitor permits can I buy?

Battle and Eastbourne

  • 150 permits per year per household
  • 300 permits per year if you are a blue badge holder – you will have to provide a copy of your valid blue badge.

Bexhill

  • 100 permits per year per household
  • 150 permits per year if you are a blue badge holder – you will have to provide a copy of your valid blue badge.

Hastings

  • 100 permits per year per household

Permits are available for residents to buy in either two or five hour periods. The permit is valid from the time and date that is scratched off.

Lewes and Falmer

  • 100 permits per year per household
  • 150 permits per year if you are housebound – you will have to provide proof, such as a letter from your doctor.

Except for Hastings, the permit is valid on the date that is scratched off and up to 10am the next day.

In Lewes and Falmer you do not need a permit on a bank or public holiday.

You should buy visitor permits in advance although you do not need to buy all the permits in one go and can apply for more at any time.

You can still buy visitor permits, if you do not have a resident parking permit. They are scratch card permits, which you or your visitor will need to validate. Full instructions are shown on the permits.

Where can my visitors park?

The maps show the boundary for each zone, your visitors can park within the correct zone for the permit in

  • resident permit holders only bays
  • permit holder only bays
  • shared use bays (permit holders or time limited)
  • shared use bays (permit holders or paid parking)

When parking, the letter on the sign must show the same letter that the permit is valid for. 

Residents living in the HS zone in Lewes will have visitor permits that allows parking in two zones.

Having a permit does not guarantee a parking space and the permit is not valid in any other bay or off street car park.

How much do they cost?

Battle, Bexhill, Eastbourne, Lewes and Falmer

  • £1.40
  • 70p for residents with a valid blue badge in Battle, Bexhill and Eastbourne
  • 70p for residents in Lewes that are housebound

Hastings

  • Permit valid for two hours – £1.20 each
  • Permit valid for five hours - £2.95 each

They can be bought in books of ten. Except in Hastings, where there is a minimum of five permits per application or they can be bought in books of ten.

Permits are not transferable, exchangeable or refundable.

Paying for your permit

Payment can be made online when your application is approved. Or once you have received confirmation that your application has been approved you can pay on collection.

Where do I get the permits from?

You must apply for visitor permits online first. After your application has been approved you can collect the permits from the libraries listed below. If you do not pay for the permits online, you will need to pay at the library when you collect them.

 

Permits can be collected from the library in the town that you live in. If you want to collect the permits from a different library, please tell us when you make your application.
