The Sussex Downs and Weald Looked After Children Team, based in County Hall, Lewes, is one of three looked after children’s team within Children’s Services working with children and young people aged 0-16.  The work covers adoption, long-term foster care, and care plans of reunification with birth families.

The work is varied in complexities, and covers a wide range of educational, social, and emotional needs.

You will be joining a supportive, established, and robust team where you will have the opportunity to develop and enhance your own knowledge and skills in working with looked after children.  This also includes providing learning opportunities for social work students.

You will be a passionate advocate for the young people and families, and be fully committed to making a positive difference to those you work with.

We are looking for individuals who are able to engage effectively using creativity, compassion and authority to overcome resistance, build relationships, and communicate, while maintaining professional boundaries in complex and emotionally challenging situations.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
