TEACHER OF ENGLISH

Full time / Full year

MPS-UPS £28,000 – £43,685 per annum

TLR for the right candidate

Start date September 2023

Required a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher to join a successful English department in a high-achieving school.  A passion for your subject and a desire to maintain and expand disciplinary knowledge is an essential prerequisite.  Innovation and collegiality has been a key driver of the success of this department and the successful candidate would be able to evidence these strengths in their own practice and enjoy contributing to the drive for inspiring teaching and learning in the department.

The English department is an area of strength within the school.  It consists of 10 teachers with a vast array of experience.  Each teacher has their own classroom that is equipped with interactive whiteboards and sound systems.  The department is highly cohesive and an enjoyable, exciting place to work.  This post would suit someone who feels they could make a positive contribution to such a department.

All pupils currently follow a sequenced curriculum that creates a core foundation for literature and language skills in preparation for their GCSE years.  Willingdon currently follows AQA English Literature and Language specifications at GCSE level.

We are committed to organising and delivering an exciting curriculum and range of extra-curricular activities for all year groups, and we are always keen to embrace fresh ideas from new staff.  We actively promote regular events such as trips to the theatre, or celebrating World Book Day and National Poetry Day.

Willingdon Community School is committed to child protection/safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, we expect all staff and volunteers to share this duty of care.  All applicants will be subject to safer recruitment procedures and will require satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check.

Closing Date: Tuesday, 28 March 2023 (by noon)

Interview details will be sent to shortlisted candidates only.
