Business Support Case Study: Premier Impressions
About the business
- Business name: Premier Impressions
- Support programme: Newhaven Business Grants Programme
- Participant name: Alan Stride
Premier Impressions have become one of the longest serving providers of custom branding services throughout the product marking industry. All orders are processed, branded and dispatched from their print facility in Newhaven, East Sussex.
Why they signed up to the business support programme
The primary objectives for investing in new machinery were:
- Increase production capacity: To meet growing demand and reduce lead times.
- Enhance efficiency: To minimize waste and reduce energy consumption.
- Improve product quality: To maintain high standards and decrease defect rates.
- Lower maintenance costs: To reduce overall operational costs associated with older equipment.
Sustainable drinkware has become extremely popular within the promotional industry, and Premier Impressions wanted to harness the growth potential of a UK based multi-colour print offering onto these types of products.
With drinkware products fast becoming one of the most popular promotional items in our industry, we recognised that to remain competitive we needed to invest in new machinery that would improve productivity, reduce operational costs, and allow us to print multi-colour designs on a range of drinkware related products.

What support they received
Premier Impressions were supported in purchasing a multi-colour screen printing machine for drinkware products. Multi-colour printing was frequently being requested by their clients, but with it being such a huge investment (£55,000) it needed to be carefully factored into their budget to support cash flow within the wider business.
How this has helped the business
- Premier Impressions have successfully created two full time positions.
- Enabled them to secure three new large contracts.
- Safeguarded jobs, increased turnover and decreased defect rates.
Wider benefits from supporting this business
Premier Impressions have successfully grown their business as a direct result of purchasing this equipment. They are also able to appeal to businesses from further afield to increase their sales further. In turn, this is creating additional revenue for local businesses they work with in the local area and supporting our economy to thrive. The investment contributes to the regeneration of the local area, enhancing safety, efficiency and productivity in the workplace, alongside fostering a more sustainable business model.
Receiving this grant has protected cashflow, safeguarded jobs and future-proofed the offering we are able to provide to our customers. We have been able to innovate our product set and stay ahead of our competition. Not only did it solve immediate challenges related to production capabilities and quality, but it also positioned the company for future growth. By investing in technological advancements, we have not only improved operational efficiency but also ensured competitiveness in a rapidly evolving market. Thank you so much for the support!
