Platinum Fitness is Newhaven’s only 24 hour gym with over 200 pieces of fitness equipment. They house state of the art cardio and weight machines with a large free weights area.

Why they signed up to the business support programme

Platinum Fitness wanted to expand into larger premises to bring more people in from the local community and further afield to take a vested interest in their health and fitness. This being said, ensuring sufficient cash flow was available was at the forefront of considerations.

What support they received

Platinum Fitness received substantial financial support which enabled them to purchase 8,000 sq foot of rubber flooring. This now allows them to present with a professional look, and also offers longer lasting protection to the flooring and equipment.

How this has helped the business

  • Richard has already employed two new members of staff and is also planning to bring in a creche facility to encourage parents with children to sign up, which will also potentially lead to recruiting additional staff.
  • With more space, the gym now has 200 pieces of equipment and as such, six new jobs have been created.
  • They are able to attract more clientele with this sleeker business look which in turn has increased turnover and membership signups.

Wider benefits from supporting this business

Platinum Fitness has not only created more employment opportunities within Newhaven and the surrounding areas, but has also been able to increase awareness of the positive health and social impacts of health and fitness. They are increasing their turnover year on year, which in turn is having an ever-increasing impact on our economy.

I have been determined to remain in Newhaven as I serve a catchment area that includes the surrounding areas of Lewes, Seaford and Peacehaven. I provide local health and wellbeing support, as well as a sense of community, supporting local residents and increasingly bringing new visitors to Newhaven.
