Why they signed up to the business support programme

Growth is an integral part of Mamoosh’s ethos. Their motivation for applying was focused on expanding the operation, whilst making the bakery more efficient and keeping the integrity of the product.

Like many businesses, we wanted to make improvements in order to protect against growth and work on a more industrial and ergonomic level, but were ever conscious of cashflow. This grant felt like it would enable us to gain a more resilient infrastructure.

What support they received

Mamoosh were supported in purchasing a hoist which allowed them to move large quantities of pitta, which increased productivity dramatically. They were also able to purchase a water chiller to help with product consistency, efficiency and staff wellbeing. Alongside this, they were able to fit industrial food-grade flooring.

How this has helped the business

  • Mamoosh have successfully created six full time and three part time positions in 2024.
  • They have increased productivity within their business which in turn has increased turnover.
  • They are able to work more ergonomically and accurately within the bakery which has minimised wastage and decreased production time.

Wider benefits from supporting this business

Mamoosh have successfully grown their business which in turn is helping the local and wider community thrive. The investment contributes to the regeneration of the local area, enhancing safety, efficiency and productivity in the workplace, alongside fostering a more sustainable business model.

This grant has allowed us to invest in the next phase of growth to future-proof our business and increase capacity. It also enabled us to have more cashflow to invest in the Mamoosh Riverside, which created six more full time jobs and three part time jobs, providing service to the local community and bringing visitors and customers from outside of Newhaven.
