Environment

The UK Government’s Net Zero carbon strategy sets out policies and proposals for decarbonising all sectors of the UK economy to meet its target by 2050.

Consumers are becoming even more climate-conscious and are motivated to purchase green services and products.

All environmental claims need to be accurate, trueful and substantiated.

What is Greenwashing?

Greenwashing is a form of marketing claim in which business practices are made out to be more environmentally friendly than they really are. It can come in the form of claims in advertising, promotional material or on product labelling.

Consumers can be potentially misled about environmentally friendly alternatives. Both deliberate and accidental greenwashing appear to be becoming increasingly prevalent.

What is the Green Claims Code?

The Green Claims Code is produced by the Competition and Markets Authority:  Guidance on Environmental Claims on Goods and Services
