We are fully licensed for civil ceremonies, with a choice of beautiful spaces in which to exchange your vows. The Walled Garden and The Courtyard, with flint walls and pleached laurel trees are ideal for a balmy summer’s day. The Pilgrims’ Room on the first floor is in the oldest part of the hotel, and has oak beams, original oriel windows and a hand-stencilled floral motif on the floor.

The Star is walking distance to St. Andrew’s Church in Alfriston, known as ‘Cathedral of the Downs’, as well as The Church of The Good Shepherd in Lullington, one of the smallest and prettiest churches in the country. Berwick Church, famed for its murals by Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell, and Litlington Church are also closeby.

We can seat up to 30 guests in The Pilgrims’ Room for a wedding breakfast or up to 60 guests in our ground floor Dining Room. For those planning a celebration to include music and dancing, exclusive hire of the hotel is available.
