A historic setting in the heart of Rye, the elegant, Georgian Town Hall is a unique venue for your marriage ceremony. It is also located within walking distance of a variety of reception venues. The Buttermarket area offers a beautiful backdrop for photographs to remember your day. In addition to this beautiful venue, Rye Town Council is pleased to offer you the services of the Town Crier. They will greet your guests on arrival and announce you at the start of the ceremony. Afterwards, from the steps of the Town Hall, they will deliver a traditional wedding 'cry' to your gathered guests, proclaiming your marriage to the town.

We accommodate ceremonies of every size, from a maximum of 75 guests down to none! For smaller ceremonies (up to 20 guests) we have the option of a more intimate setting around the Chamber’s marble fireplace. For couples wanting to marry somewhere special, but without any guests present, we are also usually able to provide witnesses if required.

Please note that the main chamber, where ceremonies take place, is on the first floor accessed via stairs. Wheelchair access is limited – please contact us for more information.
