Vehicle crossover applications that include changes to parking bays
If there is a parking bay outside your property, East Sussex Highways can only grant a licence in principle to install a vehicle crossover. This means your application for a crossover will only be fully approved if the parking bay is changed or removed.
Changes to parking bays
Once you have been granted a licence in principle, to progress the application you must make a request for parking controls. Please use this form as it can also be used to make a request for changes to the existing controls, such as parking bays outside your property. You must include your crossover application reference number in the reason for the request.
How requests are reviewed
All requests are considered as part of the parking review process. A parking review of an area takes place every 14 months. More information can be found in our guide to parking reviews.
The review process involves two rounds of public consultation on changes to parking bays. If there is an objection to the removal of the parking bay that we cannot resolve, it is taken to the Planning Committee to decide.
The whole review review process can take 14 to 16 months to complete. This is a legal process with strict timelines, and it must be completed before any changes can be made to the parking bays and the traffic regulation order.
Parking bay change approval
If the change to the parking bay is agreed you must notify East Sussex Highways by emailing licensingandenforcement@eastsussexhighways.com
East Sussex Highways can then issue the licence.
Before approved changes or new parking controls can be installed, detailed signs and lines works orders need to be prepared for our contractors. The installation on-street is weather dependent.

If the Planning Committee uphold the objection, changes to the parking bay will not be made, and the licence cannot be issued.
