Hours of work: 32.5 per week, 8.30 - 3.30 Monday to Friday including a lunchbreak

Working pattern: Part-time, Term-time only (working for 39 weeks per year plus 5.85 weeks annual leave, which will increase after 5 years' continuous service). Term time only to include INSET days.

(As the position is part-time/term-time only, the above salary will be pro rata)

Fixed term for: 2 years

Groombridge St Thomas is looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant from September 2024. Our Teaching Assistants play a crucial role in the day to life of the school. The post involves supporting pupils with their learning under the direction of the class teacher or SENCo. Throughout the week you may be working 1:1 with a pupil, with a group of pupils or supporting generally in the class. Our TAs also play a crucial role in supporting during lunchtimes and PPA time.

The person appointed needs to have strong behaviour management skills, good communication skills, be enthusiastic, flexible and a good team player yet self-motivated enough to use their own initiative when necessary. You should also have good numeracy and literacy skills/qualifications and prior experience of working with children. In return we can offer you a supportive school with friendly, well-behaved pupils eager to learn.

An additional 3.45 hours may also be available to supervise our breakfast club for three mornings a week.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
