Mark Cross CEA Primary School is a small village school, just to the south of Tunbridge Wells, with a strong sense of community and a friendly, welcoming staff team.

We have a vacancy for a class teacher from September 2024.

We are incredibly fortunate to have very talented and flexible teaching staff who are happy and able to teach across multiple year groups. As such, we are looking for the right person to join our school and are not specifying a particular year group at this time.

Mark Cross School is organised into four classes - Reception (maximum of 15), Mixed Y1/2. Y3/4 and 5/6. We have invested in our staffing structure and are currently teaching some aspects of the curriculum as single year groups, but the majority of teaching takes place in this mixed class structure.

Working in a small school does have its challenges, but also has many benefits. All staff feel valued and listened to and we have a collaborative approach to school improvement. Pupils achieve well and feel a strong sense of belonging and pride in their school. Our pupils are amazing! They are keen to learn, are polite, respectful and get the balance right between having fun and being sensible.

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Has a strong commitment for children’s learning and emotional well-being
  • Can demonstrate a good or better standard of teaching, with secure curriculum knowledge
  • Is sensitive to the needs of all pupils, including those with additional needs
  • Is able to communicate confidently and effectively
  • Is willing to support the Christian ethos and values of our school
  • Has high expectations of themselves and their pupils
  • Can create and maintain a positive learning environment, delivering lessons that are engaging for all

We are part of the Weald Federation which was formed in September 2019 with the amalgamation of Saxonbury (Frant and Mark Cross) and Aspire (Mayfield and Five Ashes) Federations. The schools work closely together to enhance both the academic and pastoral opportunities for the pupils.  Being part of a larger federation offers staff a wide variety of CPD and career progression opportunities.

If you would like to apply, please contact the school via email on markcrossoffice@thewealdfederation.org for an application pack.

Completed applications should be returned to markcrossoffice@thewealdfederation.org.

Closing Date: Tuesday 14th May 2024
