A caseworker is sought to work alongside social workers in a busy Duty and Assessment Team, based in Hastings seafront in the East of the County.

The successful applicant will be part of our talented workforce of experienced managers and a highly skilled team of social workers undertaking assessments with families who require support and where there may be safeguarding concerns. We work with children and young people from 0-19 years old on a short-term basis. The caseworker would hold specific responsibilities related to youth and family housing issues, liaising with other agencies to find resolutions to housing need.

This role is a great opportunity for someone keen to develop their skills in direct work with children and families and make a real difference for our most vulnerable children and families. Good quality supervision and training will be provided to equip the right person to do the job.

Key tasks include

  • Assess need of individuals and arrange for services from within the Department or from other agencies.
  • Be responsible for a caseload and produce records of action taken in respect of the individuals allocated.
  • Provide advice to families and co-ordinate support packages.
  • Arrange or provide, transport/escort for service users, e.g. to health appointments, nursery placements or for children in care attending school.
  • Facilitate liaison between other agencies and attend meetings such as Family Support meetings and CAF meetings.

We are looking for candidates who have effective communication and interpersonal skills. Have the ability to keep up-to-date records and prepare reports to a required standard, undertake basic assessment work, work independently and within a team and engage with children and families.
