For an informal discussion, please contact Helen McAteer- Practice Manager on 01273 482777.

Are you an experienced registered Social Worker looking to advance your career into a Senior Practitioner position? Are you passionate about raising standards and person centre approach? Do you thrive on challenge? If the answer is yes, then we would welcome your application?

The Hospital and Discharge Service has two vacancies for Senior Practitioner. The Senior Practitioner position is a really important role in our structure. You will hold a small and complex caseload of clients that may involve safeguarding, court work etc. In addition to this you will supervise a small number of practitioner staff. Ideally, you will hold a Practice Educator qualification and be able to support Social Workers who are in their first year of social work practice and are part of their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment Programme.

You will support the Practice Manager by bringing your experience and knowledge to the team to raise standards and sharing models and social work theory to support staff and benefit the people we serve as part of our critical frontline service. You will have opportunities to facilitate reflective practice sessions and sharing your learning within the service and more widely.

We are unique as a service in the fact that we have case responsibility for people who are inpatients and for those who have been discharged in the community requiring a Care Act assessment of need.

In your role there will be an expectation that you will be part of the decision making for safeguarding triage and supporting staff to set clear terms of reference for enquiries, you will be expected to participate in rota for safeguarding in your working week. If you have development needs around safeguarding, please don’t worry, a development plan will be devised to support you to grow your confidence in decision making.

Finally, there are many rewards to working for East Sussex and being part of our service, some of these include:

  • Hybrid working – working one or two days in an office and your remaining working week remotely
  • Access to our training offer which may include financial support for you to work towards being a Best Interest Assessor and/or an Approved Mental Health Professional
  • Your annual registration fee with Social Worker England will be reimbursed
  • You will have the opportunity to apply for our lease car scheme subject to qualifying criteria
  • Five training and development days per year to support your continuous professional development
  • Protected time for you to research models, theories and caselaw
  • Access to our extensive training offer that has a real focus on wellbeing and wellness

If you are interested in having an informal discussion about these roles please contact Helen McAteer on 01273 482777

We look forward to receiving your covering letter and CV for this position.
