Course description Suitable for all staff, this course provides the essential coaching skills to use with colleagues and customers. You will develop an understanding of the core skills and have practise sessions.  If you are a supervisor or line manager, we advise you doing the Coaching for Managers course. 
Training objectives Completion of this course will qualify you to enrol on the ILM Level 3 Fast Track Coaching course to further develop your skills. 
Learning outcomes Course participants will: 
  • consider the role and benefits of coaching in the workplace 
  • understand how coaching can improve performance and support individuals to develop themselves and their careers 
  • learn skills needed to perform effectively as coaches in the workplace

An Introduction to Mentoring

Training objectives This programme will provide an introduction to mentoring with clarification of what mentoring is, the role of the mentor and some skills development.

  • to clearly define mentoring and understand the role of a workplace mentor 
  • to understand the role of a workplace mentor, the skills, techniques and responsibilities an effective mentor would require 
  • to get an overview of the mentoring process from contracting, through the delivery phase and closure 
  • to engage in some short practical mentoring exercises to get a flavour of what it is to mentor another

ILM Level 3 Award in Coaching Fast Track

Course description Have you learnt coaching skills through our Coaching Skills or Coaching for Managers courses? Would you like to improve your skills, gain more practice and become a member of the ESCC Coaching Network?  If so the ILM Level 3 Award in Coaching could be for you. This course is designed to give you an in depth knowledge of coaching skills and of the tools you can use in your coaching practice.
Training objectives The Fast Track will involve: ILM induction and introduction to ILM assignments e-learning Module one to one tutorials - minimum 2 hours per head review E-Learning and assignment requirements review final assignment requirements
Learning outcomes Completion of this course will qualify you to become a member of the workplace coaching pool and we will be able to refer potential coaches from across the organisation to you.
Additional information As part of this course you will be required to find a coachee to practice your skills with. Before starting please identify someone that you can either work with yourself, or that you can swap with another person in the group. You will also be required to complete 6 hours of supervised coaching to practically apply the tools and skills.

Course description This focused programme aims to develop managers' knowledge, skills and confidence to enable them to fully integrate a coaching approach into the daily management of staff and projects in order to operate effectively, promote a culture of empowerment and engagement and to support creativity in a challenging business environment. Delegates should be either managers; supervisors or team leaders who will have the opportunity to put these skills to work in their day to day roles or by coaching other staff with ESCC.
Training objectives Gain a coaching approach - this is increasingly well evidenced across the business community and public sector as an appropriate and successful leadership style, creating a ‘win-win’ effect, where staff are motivated and engaged, and work can be successfully devolved, freeing up valuable management time and resources.
Learning outcomes To define coaching and other similar management approaches to leading individuals and teams To examine when, where and how a coaching style of leadership would be beneficial and identify own management/leadership style in relation to coaching To develop coaching skills and understand coaching models and techniques to use in individual, groups/team coaching situations To gain confidence, through practice, to use coaching skills and thinking in appropriate work situations
