Classroom based and Virtual training

Making a booking and course correspondence

All our courses are advertised on the East Sussex Learning Portal and all bookings must be made through the Portal. Bookings can be made by individual staff or by the organisation's CPD Leader / Manager / Supervisor / Line Managers. All course correspondence will be sent to you via email (to the email provided on the booking form). We cannot accept responsibility for information that is sent but fails to arrive.

Please note: the Children's Services Department holds no liability for the appropriateness of course applications. If a delegate enrols on the wrong course, any costs incurred will have to be met fully by the establishment, school, setting or department and ESCC will not be liable for any related costs. If you no longer require a place on the course the responsibility for cancelling this lies with the individual/organisation.

Delegates who have not enrolled should not turn up on the day of the event as this causes disruption to the venue, the tutor, and other participants. Enrolment will always be confirmed by email directly to the delegate. If delegates turn up on the day without a confirmed booking and space is available, a surcharge of £15 will be payable in addition to the published course/conference fee. Please note that course materials may not be available as these will be reserved for those who have booked in advance.

Cancellation and No Show Policy for Education Division Training Courses

The Division has carefully considered the terms and conditions for our training courses to enable flexibility for delegates whilst also ensuring we can cover course costs. The terms and conditions set out below help us manage our training budget as efficiently as possible.

  • All cancellations made prior to 1 week before the course are not charged
  • Late cancellation (within 1 week of the course date) - full fee capped at £100
  • No show - full fee
  • A colleague can attend in a delegate's place if Education Events are informed of this
  • For subsidised courses that are offered at no cost to delegates, late cancellation or no-show will normally incur a £15 admin charge.
  • If a delegate cannot attend because the school/setting has an Ofsted inspection no cancellation/no show fees are incurred.

Cancellation and No Show Policy for all other Training Courses organised by the Workforce Development Team

Fees are applicable for delegates who cancel within the last two weeks before the course date, or who fail to show up on the day (except for exceptional circumstances, this does not usually include sickness). A colleague can attend on the day instead of you and no additional charge will be incurred. Where a statutory role requires you to be elsewhere at short notice, for example attending court or Ofsted visit, the fee will not be applied providing you notify the Children's Services Training Department on or before the day of the course. It is the delegate's responsibility to ensure they sign the course register to confirm attendance.

For multi sessional courses this fee will be applied per day, for example a late cancellation fee for a two day face to face course (with each day being 5hrs long) will be £140.

Data Protection Training - For schools that have bought into the Information Governance traded service (IG4 or IG5) - this training is free for up to five members of staff, however you will forfeit a free place if you cancel within the last two weeks before the course date, or fail to show up on the day (except for exceptional circumstances).

Online Payments

If you are booked on a non-fee bearing course and fail to attend, a non-attendance fee will be automatically applied. This fee must be paid before any further bookings can be made.

Refunds will be processed within 10 working days, and will be deposited back to the original payment card. Please note, under no circumstances are we are able to process a refund to any card other than the original payment card.

Line Managers will receive a WorldPay online payment confirmation e-mail. This is your payment receipt therefore please keep a copy for your records.

Booking Closing Dates

Delegates should be aware that bookings must be made before the closing date shown on the Learning Portal. Delegates may request that their names are held on a Waiting List, in case of any cancellations after that date. If a space becomes available the Children's Services Department will contact you directly.

Weather

In severe weather conditions, delegates should contact the venue before travelling for confirmation that the training is still going ahead. If the course is cancelled you will not be charged.

Where course charges apply, these fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
