Training objectives This is an inter-active workshop co-facilitated by social workers from different fields within English statutory social work environments.  There will be a combination of slides, live role play and group exercises which might include content on developing rapport with young people; assessing and balancing risk; and facilitating the co-creation of safety all through a lens of Solution Focused Practice.

Course description This course is aimed at supporting and furthering the knowledge base of Social Workers / RO’s / OT’s allocated workers within ASC who support individuals who may come into contact with the Mental Health Act 1983. Any other professional who may be considering undertaking AMHP training.
Training objectives This course is suitable for staff working with clients who have mental health needs.  The course focusses on introducing the Mental Health Act with an overview of its main functions.  Supporting staff in their decision making when supporting clients with mental health needs and when a possible referral to the AMHP service is required.  
Learning outcomes The MHA 83 provides a statutory framework to how individuals with mental health needs can be supported both in the community and a within hospital setting if required.  To understand when and why an induvial can be detained under the MHA 83, including the support mechanisms in place to support the client.
