Climate change in East Sussex

As the climate continues to change, events such as storms and droughts will become more frequent and devastating.

Other impacts will include:

  • Flooding: communities in the Ouse valley and Pevensey Levels are especially vulnerable to flooding.
  • Health impacts: an increased heat risk could be life-threatening for many people. Some groups, such as older people, are especially vulnerable to extreme heat.
  • Food production: droughts and flooding will impact on water availability and crop yields.
  • Water supply: South East England is a water stressed region. Climate change increases the risk of extreme drought.
