Who we are

East Sussex Music is the government funded music education provider for East Sussex. We are a not-for-profit organisation. Our team of over 90 teachers, support staff and managers provide music education for over 7000 children and young people in East Sussex, from age 5 to 18.

We offer:

  • lessons in local schools in every part of East Sussex
  • bands, choirs and orchestras from our local area music centres in Crowborough, Eastbourne, Hastings and Lewes, and
  • a range of creative and exciting music activities at weekends and during the holiday.

We own a stock of musical instruments worth around £1m and some of these are available to hire by pupils.

From our base at the Performing Arts Centre in Lewes, our administrative and management team co-ordinate music learning activities across the county. We provide five statutory teacher training days per year, adhere to robust safeguarding compliance and training and monitor our teachers regularly to ensure the highest standard of teaching.
