Safeguarding children in East Sussex

Safeguarding children means making sure children are safe and happy. There are rules and laws, such as the Children and Social Work Act 2017 (gov.uk), that outline how adults should keep children safe.

The East Sussex Safeguarding Children Partnership (ESSCP) is a group where the police, doctors, and local government work together to protect children. You can learn more about what they do on their website.

There is a guide called the Pan Sussex Child Protection and Safeguarding Procedures Manual. It explains how adults should help keep children safe.
