Published in September 2024, East Sussex Prosperity is a strategy with a long-term view. Looking to 2050, the strategy seeks to secure sustainable economic growth, setting out how – over the next generation – East Sussex can secure better opportunities and living standards for the people who live in the county, and can help our businesses to thrive and grow.
Jointly produced by the County Council and Team East Sussex (TES), the county’s business-led strategic advisory economic growth board, East Sussex Prosperity is an evidence-based strategy. Colleagues spent a full year reviewing what the economic evidence says about East Sussex, conducting detailed consultations and workshops with key partners and sectors including individual businesses and young people. Over 300 stakeholders contributed their views.
Moving forward, East Sussex Prosperity will remain a fluid and dynamic strategy, updated to reflect changes locally and nationally as we progress towards 2050.
Strategic Investment Plan
Colleagues are currently finalising a high-level implementation plan to accompany the strategy, developed following a series of workshops and consultations with partners through autumn 2025 and spring 2026. For each of the three ‘missions’ of the strategy – Prosperity for Business, Prosperity for People and Prosperity for Place – proposed interventions will be built around a series of strategic investment priorities, outlining the actions needed to deliver the strategy's vision of a more prosperous future for all.
The Strategic Investment Plan is expected to be published in the summer of 2026.
As with the strategy itself, the Strategic Investment Plan will be updated periodically to reflect local/national changes as we progress towards 2050.
