Statement of Accounts

These documents show where we have spent and invested money, and what our financial position was at the end of March each year.

We publish our Statement of Accounts every July, around four months after the end of our financial year in March. An unaudited draft version is published at the end of May.

The format of the Statement of Accounts is governed by the Code of Practice on Local Authority Accounting in the United Kingdom.

Statement of Accounts 2018–19

In line with the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015, the Council has published its latest draft accounts by 31 July 2019. Whilst the Governance Committee approved the accounts on 16 July 2019, the Council’s external auditor, Grant Thornton, has not yet concluded the audit. Although previously reporting the approval of the independent actuary’s valuation of pension fund assets/liabilities and interest income and the reasonableness of the actuary’s application of rolled forward assumptions, further assurance is now being sought, requiring a new IAS19 statement to be issued. The Council is continuing to work closely with the audit team as they complete their work. The Council will publish a final set of accounts as soon as the audit is concluded, and the Audit Report issued.
