Apply for a Blue Badge

Blue Badges for people with hidden disabilities

The Department for Transport has announced that people with hidden disabilities will be able to apply for Blue Badges. However, we haven’t received any guidance and the new criteria will not come into effect until 31 August 2019. We cannot accept applications yet, but we will update this page when we have more information.

If you are disabled you can apply for a Blue Badge to help you park close to your destination. The cost of a badge is currently £10.

You can use a Blue Badge as a driver or as a passenger. You don’t need to own your own car.

You can check your eligibility for a Blue Badge here.

About the application process

It takes an average of 12 weeks to deal with a new application. You’ll need to submit documents and a photo. If you apply online and supply us with a current email address, you will be kept updated about the progress of your application.

If you would prefer to apply using a paper application form, see the list of organisations that supply these below. Please note, you cannot download and print this form.

If your application is successful it will be submitted to the national issuing office for processing.

For details about what you need to do, see the Blue Badge application process.
