A guide for Personal Assistants
1. Becoming a Personal Assistant
A Personal Assistant (or PA) job is to support people that need help, because of their age or disability, to have greater choice and control in their life. This means they’ll have greater independence and the ability to live their life more fully.
The main skills needed for being a Personal Assistant are the ability to listen, and a willingness to learn and respond.
The job can be very flexible, offering part time and full time work on different days and at different times.
Some people become a PA part time while also working in an entirely different job. It is also suitable for someone who is retired and may only want a few hours a week, or someone in college who may only want to work evening or weekends.
