How much care costs

The cost of a care home depends on the level of care you need and how much the particular home charges.

If you have more than £23, 250 in savings and assets, you will need to pay the full cost of your care and arrange your own support. This is called self-funding.

Residential and nursing care

If you have less than £23, 250 in savings and assets, the amount you pay is based on your financial assessment.

If you are self-funding your care, you will pay the full rate the care home charges. 

Home care

Home care costs vary depending on where you live.

You can expect to pay around £21 per hour if you are self-funding your care.

Technology enabled care (TEC)

For technology enabled care (TEC) there is a small weekly charge of up to £3.85 for monitoring. You may also be eligible for help with the cost.
