1. Carer support services

The council and the Clinical Commissioning Groups fund a range of services for carers who look after someone in East Sussex. You can get information and support from the following organisations by getting in touch with them directly.

If you are unsure about what type of support you need, you can contact Care for the Carers which is the Carer’s Centre for East Sussex. They can offer information, advice and support on a range of issues and can act as the first point of contact for all services for carers.

Alzheimer’s Society – Carer Information and Support Programme (CrISP)

If you are a carer, family member or friend of someone who has been recently diagnosed with dementia, CriSP can give you the support and advice you need. Office opening times: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Coastal Wellbeing – Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP)

Coastal Wellbeing offers Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) groups to carers who might feel isolated, frustrated, guilty, misunderstood, overwhelmed or alone.

East Sussex Family & Carers’ Team (FACT)

FACT supports people who are affected by someone else’s substance misuse and mental health problems. They offer advice and signposting, drop-ins, support groups, one-to-one sessions, workshops and training for carers.

Making Memories Dementia Carers Groups

Unpaid carers of people with dementia/Alzheimer’s and the person they care for are invited to join Care for the Carers for monthly, free entertainment and support at these groups.

Sussex Armed Forces Network – Carers and Families Liaison

A group of organisations which work together to improve the lives of the armed forces community. SAFN has a dedicated carers and families liaison worker whose work focuses on support and recognition for carers and families from the armed and ex-armed forces community.
