Grass, weeds, hedge, and tree maintenance

Grass cutting

We cut grass verges in residential areas, rural verges, and areas at road junctions so drivers can see clearly.

Hedge cutting

Most roadside hedges are the responsibility of the landowner. If we notice overhanging hedges during a routine inspection, or receive a complaint, we will ask the landowner to cut them back.

However, we do maintain some hedges on highway land and these will be maintained where they become a nuisance or a hazard.

Weed control

Each year we will treat kerbs, drains and the boundary edge of pavements. We do this using a herbicide from the county approved list.

We treat noxious weeds such as Ragwort every year. Our weed control programme runs between spring and autumn.

Tree maintenance

Trees belonging to us will be maintained where they become a nuisance or a hazard, for example, blocking visibility or posing a threat.
