Tranche 1

More than £350,000 is to be spent in East Sussex on temporary schemes for cyclists and walkers

East Sussex County Council was allocated the money from the first round of the Government’s Emergency Active Travel Fund (EATF) having worked with other local councils as well as East Sussex cycling and walking groups to identify potential schemes

For each of these schemes detailed assessments were carried out and local views taken into consideration. Further details can be seen in the Lead Member report the recommendations of which were approved on 17 August 2020

What has been delivered?

  • Footway widening at Buckhurst Place (underneath railway bridge), Bexhill
  • Footway widening A259 The Stade to Pelham Place, Hastings
  • Installation of 37 cycle racks at key locations across the county
  • Bus Stop Social Distance signing – county wide
  • Social distance signing town centres – county wide
  • Covid-19 testing sites across the county
