Residents and their visitors
Residents within the town centre residential parking zones can buy up to two virtual permits that allow parking in the zone they live in. Permits are linked to the vehicle and will appear on the handheld computers used by civil enforcement officers.
A resident permit will only be issued if you are:
- a permanent resident at an address within the zone
- the registered keeper of the vehicle.
You will need to provide proof of this with your permit application. For a list of the documents we will accept please see resident permit proof of eligibility.
Apply for your resident permit online with RingGo and also find out more about how the permits work and the cost of them.
If you do not have Internet access you can still apply in person or by post. You will still need to provide proof of eligibility. For more information please contact The Parking Shop, Hastings.
Residents can buy permits for the zone they live in, for their visitors to use, even if they do not hold a resident parking permit themselves.
Businesses within the town centre area where there are residential parking zones can apply for:
- an annual permit that allows parking within specially marked business permit bays in Linton Road. Permits show the vehicle registration numbers and cannot be transferred
- scratchcard-type permits that allow parking for up to five or ten hours in resident permit holder and shared-use bays.
Both types of permit will only be issued if the business address is within the town centre area.
Permits will not be issued to vehicles which exceed 3.2 metres overall height, 6.5 metres overall length and 5 tonnes gross weight.

Doctors and primary care workers
Doctor permits can be purchased by GPs who work at surgeries with designated doctor bays. A permit can be issued for up to two vehicles. Permits show the vehicle registration number and cannot be transferred.
Primary care worker permits can be purchased by medical professionals who work for organisations that provide urgent health or social care, by visiting patients in their homes within the town centre area where there are residential parking zones.
The permits can only be used when the holder is responding to an urgent or emergency situation or if the patient’s condition requires a home visit.
The permit must not be used for non-emergencies. It must not be displayed when it is not in use.
