Overview
This privacy notice covers members of the public who have joined the Adult Social Care People Bank. The Bank’s purpose is to share volunteering opportunities for a range of adult social care-related activities with its members.
East Sussex County Council takes data protection seriously. Please be assured that your information will be used appropriately in line with data protection legislation, will be stored securely and will not be processed unless the requirements for fair and lawful processing can be met.
What information is being used?
When joining the People Bank, we ask for your:
- name and contact details including address, email and telephone number
- personal data about you, such as your gender, age, ethnicity, etc
- information about your experience and areas of interest
How will your information be used?
We will use your information to match you with volunteering opportunities you are eligible for and likely to be interested in. We will use your contact details to share relevant information and opportunities with you.
We will store your joining information on our online consultation hub – see the privacy notice for the hub.
We aim to maintain high standards, adopt best practice for our record keeping and regularly check and report on how we are doing. Your information is never sold for direct marketing purposes.
Our staff are trained to handle your information correctly and protect your confidentiality and privacy.
Your information is not processed outside of the European Economic Area.
What is the legal basis for processing your information?
When you join the People Bank, we ask you to consent to your information being processed as set out in this privacy notice, by ticking a box and signing, or typing, your name.
How long will your information be kept for?
We will keep your information for as long as you are a member of the People Bank. You can leave the Bank at any time. Whenever we contact you about a volunteering opportunity or an event we will tell you how to update your details or leave the Bank.
If we are no longer able to contact you using the details you have given us, for example, letters are returned or emails bounce back, we will remove you from the Bank after a reasonable period of time.
Your rights
Under data protection legislation, you have the right:
- to be informed why, where and how we use your information
- to ask for access to your information
- to ask for your information to be corrected if it is inaccurate or incomplete
- to ask for your information to be deleted or removed where there is no need for us to continue processing it
- to ask us to restrict the use of your information
- to ask us to copy or transfer your information from one IT system to another in a safe and secure way, without impacting the quality of the information
- to object to how your information is used
- to challenge any decisions made without human intervention (automated decision making)
